Pacific / Aaron Dell is no longer the 'World's Okayest Goalie'

TORONTO — Although it's technically a school day, a horde of children and teenagers flocks toward the practice facility at the MasterCard Centre in hopes of getting an autograph from Joe Thornton, Brent Burns, and Logan Couture before the San Jose Sharks take the ice.

Aaron Dell, who's posting numbers that rival any goaltender in the league, breezes through the crowd without being recognized. "The World's Okayest Goalie" has outperformed his nickname, but widespread acclaim has yet to follow.

It seems apparent to everyone but Dell - and, perhaps, the legion of otherwise awestruck children - that the 28-year-old is becoming one of the NHL's most surprising stars. Across 15 appearances (11 starts), he's posting a superlative .934 save percentage and 1.98 goals-against average entering Thursday's road game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Both of those stats rank third in the NHL.

« Last post by BigFourSports on December 28, 2017, 08:47:45 PM »
New York Giants wide receiver Brandon Marshall, who's been sidelined since mid-October by an ankle injury, is staying committed to his goal of playing in 2018 and has even higher expectations for himself.

Marshall is planning to play another two years, according to Bob Glauber of Newsday, and wants to accomplish enough in that time to be inducted into the NFL's Hall of Fame when he eventually decides to retire.

The 33-year-old has 959 career receptions on 1,633 targets, totaling 12,215 yards and 82 touchdowns. He has played 12 seasons, split between five teams.

Forum Rules & Guidelines / Rules & Guidelines
« Last post by BigFourSports on December 28, 2017, 08:25:43 AM »

The following is prohibited and will result in temporary or permanent bans:

Harassment:

Harassment occurs when a member insults, attacks, and denigrates another member at any time. We have zero tolerance for taking an argument about a any topic to a personal level. For instance, the use of terms such as "idiot, moron, stupid" and other derogatory terms constitutes harassment. The idea is to make this a pleasant environment to discuss sports, not a schoolyard, or name-calling and rock-throwing festival. Repeated critical and sharply negative posts toward a forum member can also constitute harassment. This applies to all content submitted by users including posts, avatars and signatures.

Personal attacks and inflammatory behavior will not be tolerated.

Respect the forum staff. We're not here to make life harder to anyone. Any decision taken by the administrators and moderators is final and must be respected.

Disruption:

Posts which intend to disrupt the topic of conversation or steer the topic away from the focus of the forum and related news. Disruption can include harassment, multiple user profiles, multiple posting of the same post and posting completely off topic messages. Please do your best when it comes to grammar, punctuation and spelling. Excessive use of "AOL'ese" and "hAx0r" talk can be very disruptive so please keep it to a minimum. Private messages are to be kept private and never posted in the forums. Additionally, since we are a sports forum, primarily, and not a political forum, don't use political or religious signatures or avatars (this includes blatant political nicknames), due to their controversy effect. There are other forums that are political or religious in nature that you can use to satisfy that itch.

Solicitation:

Please refrain from using Big Four Sports forum to promote your "crowdfunding campaign" (kickstarter/indiegogo) or commercial services/website. You may post private, non-profit sales only; no eBay auctions or online storefronts.

Spamming:

Spamming is the multiple posting of an identical or similar post on one or more of our Forums. Spam is also flooding the Internet with many copies of the same message, in an attempt to force the message on people who would not otherwise choose to receive it. Most spam is commercial advertising, often for dubious products, get-rich-quick schemes, or quasi-legal services.

Copyrighted Material:

You may post links to appropriate articles but posting articles from other sources in their entirety is a violation of our Forum Guidelines. If you must repost quotes or sentences, please credit the source.

High Maintenance Clause:

Any member who occupies a majority of admin or moderator time unnecessarily will be shown the door.

Any messages you post in these discussion forums will remain available to the public for as long as this discussion board is online or it is deleted by topic starter or admin/moderator. Please post carefully and with due consideration to the content of your post. Any private communications will remain private at all times, sharing PM's is not allowed unless all members involved are in agreement. Communications between Moderation or Administrative Staff and the members are always private and no permission will ever be granted to share these messages in a public manner. Private Communications from other sites are also included in this proscription. In short, no communication where there was an expectation of privacy, regardless of source are to be posted on our forums.
